ABC's for a New Program Year

Accept differences in those around us
Be flexible
Consider compromise
Dare to dream and share the dreams
Experience the love of God
Forgive often
Go the extra mile to help someone in need
Hurt no one by work or action
Improve communication
Jettison anger and fear and blame
Keep confidences
Listen with an open mind and an open heart
Make a new friend and introduce him/her to Christ
Nurture hope
Open your heart to the Holy Spirit
Practice patience
Quell rumors and gossip
Remember, but don’t worship the past
Speak carefully and thoughtfully
Think first
Understand other points of view
Value one another’s feelings
Work together with energy and enthusiasm and imagination and love
‘Xercise Christian kindness
Yearn for peace and unity
Zealously worship our Lord who has called to be His people in this time and place

Theologian Frederick Buechner writes, “Faith is better understood as a verb than as a noun, as a process than as a possession. It is an on-again-off-again rather than once-and-for-all. Faith in not being sure where you’re going but going anyway. A journey without maps.” We are all invited to join in this journey as we begin a new program year on the Green. In this SPIRE will be found opportunities to worship, learn, work, help , and give – all part of the task we have been given by Christ who has called each one of us by name to be his hands, his feet and his heart as we share the Good News. I look forward to seeing you and walking with you on this journey. There are no maps – only the promise that God will be our guide and our friend along the way.
