If you have clicked on this link, chances are you are looking for a church and trying to get a feel for what sort of pastor I am. Maybe you are new to the area, or maybe something has changed in your life that has awakened your longing to grow spiritually. You probably wonder whether you would feel welcome here.
The Church on the Green is a diverse congregation that takes the Christian faith seriously and works to be connected in meaningful ways to the surrounding community. We are large enough to support an all-volunteer food pantry, a Sunday School, several choirs and plenty of spiritual growth activities year-round, but we are small enough that no one gets lost in the shuffle.
Some of our members are theologically conservative, some are theologically progressive, and some would describe themselves as centrist. There is no expectation that one-size-fits-all, which is one of things I like so much about our church. As Presbyterians, we honor the integrity of each person’s spiritual journey and we believe that we are more likely to discern God’s will together than alone.
I think you will feel welcome at the Church on the Green. I really do. But the best thing is for you to come and find out for yourself. We worship at 10:45AM on Sundays in our Chapel (entrance on Broad Street directly across from Bloomfield High School). Parking is available in the Board of Ed parking lot on the corner of Broad Street & Belleville Av.
A word to parents: We’re crazy about children and I give a special Children’s Message as a part of the service every week. We don’t mind if a baby cries or a toddler gets restless, but you need to know that we do not have a crib room or nursery in our Parish House. Please don’t let that stop you from coming.
