New Pipe Organ First Heard on Christmas Eve

New photos are now available!

Installation work continues on our new pipe organ from the Peragallo Pipe Organ Company. The electronics and wind supply system have been installed and tested, and work continues throughout December on tuning and voicing the pipes. The new organ was heard for the first time in worship on Christmas Eve. A dedication service is planned for morning worship on February 8, 2009, and a public recital will be held that afternoon.

You can see more photos of the organ being delivered in October, and being built in the Peragallo workshops during August and September and October.

For the final organ specifications "as built" please use this link, which is a Microsoft Word document: 2008-12-14_BPCOG_Organ_Specs_as_built.doc

Advent Arts Workshop a Big Success

Seventy people from the Bloomfield Presbyterian Church on the Green and surrounding communities gathered for our Advent Arts Workshop, an annual event for almost fifty years. Activities were designed to focus attention on the true meaning of Christmas at the beginning of the Advent season. Participants of all ages created ornaments and advent wreaths, made Christmas cards for soldiers overseas, and sang carols. See photos from the Advent Arts Workshop.

Korean Teachers Hosted at Thanksgiving Dinners

Two families from the Bloomfield Presbyterian Church on the Green responded.to a request from Bloomfield College for local families to host Korean students in their homes for Thanksgiving dinner. The students are English teachers in Korea who have come to Bloomfield College for five months to improve their English and teaching skills and to learn more about U.S. culture. “We enjoyed comparing Korean and American foods,” said one host, “and explaining the origin of words like ‘drumstick’ and ‘wishbone.’ Our pecan pie was an especially big hit, and we hope to invite them back for a lesson in pie-baking.”

To learn more about Bloomfield College’s TICKET program (Total Immersion Course for Korean English Teachers) please visit the American Language Center - TICKET at Bloomfield College.
